Re-energize Your Business with the Power of Pausing

Do you sometimes feel like the spirit animal of your business is a jack rabbit hopping here and there with boundless energy proliferating so many ideas you can’t keep track?

That invigorating energy is inspiring and motivating when it’s directed. Untamed it’s distracting and leads to disorganization. When your business feels more chaotic than purposeful it’s time to consider working from a place with a gentler energy.

“I like to be on the go and pausing is hard for me. But when I do take time to reflect it usually shows me where I can redirect my energy to make a bigger impact.” - Cathy Lindemann, WISe Business Coach in Residence

There is a power to pausing. If you carefully observe that rabbit, you’ll notice he stops to consider the direction of danger and the locations for food and shelter. Follow his lead and slow down, observe your projects and then move with purpose.

Check for projects that are stuck or spinning in place. Slow down and dig in paying attention to insights like these:

  • Obstacles that have not been identified or directly addressed

  • “Danger zones” requiring work to be redirected

  • Additional resources needed

  • Insights that have been overlooked

Time spent pausing, observing and considering is not time wasted. Stillness brings the opportunity to view work with the respect it deserves.

This month schedule time to slow down and discern how the energy behind your work is helping or hindering. The power behind the gentle movement of pausing may surprise you.
